“LOVE SHORTS” – A series of plays about love
Proudly Sponsored by JOMA
Fri 6th & Sat 7th August 2010 @L’Espace, 24 Trang Tien
The HITS team returned yet again, this time for a summer of love!
Who was in charge of the loving? In the summer of 2010, 2 HITS “old timers” returned to Hanoi to lead proceedings. Both Nadia Engelbrecht and Daniel Levitt used to live in Hanoi and found their love of theatre through acting in numerous HITS shows. Following their new found passion, both are now studying theatre in the USA. However they returned to their theatrical roots in Hanoi but this time to wear the director’s shoes!
Tell me more about the love? The 4 short plays were a mix of comedy and drama, real and absurd, shocking and uplifting. All set to spread the love. First up was the opening scene from Patrick Marber’s “Closer”, followed by “The Universal Language” and “Sure Thing” by David Ives, finishing with a new playwright Julia May Jonas and her play “Somewhere in the Middle”.
Giving Love “Love Shorts” raised over $1200 for HealthRight International’s Promoting Community Based Care for Orphans and Vulnerable Children project. Launched in 2008, PCC-OVC provides ongoing care and support to more than 500 HIV-affected children and their families in Hanoi.
A big thank you has to go to our sponsors without whom the show and the donation to charity would be impossible.
